5 day Buccaneer Archipelago Safari
Night before Departure
Welcome aboard King Tide, meet our crew and join some like minded adventurers for complimentary drinks.
We depart Derby on the outgoing tide whilst you are sleeping and cruise to the Buccaneer Archipelago.
This tour is a delicious tasting plate of the pristine wilderness that is the Kimberley coast.
We go with the flow of the tide .Our experienced crew will endeavor to match activities to time and tide for your greatest enjoyment.
We will visit some of the best Kimberley icons and our own special spots including some of the following depending on guest preferences and best conditions.
Strickland Bay
Drop a line over on a reef for some Fingermark, Coral Trout, Cod and Emperor. Visit Ediline Island and see the ancient pearler's graves and some bizarre rock formations then head into the Kyulgum River for lunch and a swim at the waterfall. It’s onto the Graveyard to fish the fast water for a host of species and it is home to some large pelagic fish.
Outer Islands
Today is the big fish day. We head to the outer islands and some offshore reefs for pelagics and bottom species. Fish the aptly named ATO and surrounds and swim at a beach or 2 and reef walk in a sheltered coral lagoon. These waters are full of marine life and there are many beaches on these remote islands to explore. It is a regular event to encounter GTs at 30kg out here. Anchor on a reef at night to catch some huge Fingermark.
Outer Island to Yampi Sound
Give the big fish another bash along with some jigging for reef fish then cruise to Yampi Sound. Swim at the famous Croc Creek waterfall. Collect some large black lip oysters for our BBQ at Silvergull Creek where we visit Phil and Marion at the Squatters Arms and be amazed by the tropical paradise they have set up and swim in their unique hot spring fed pool.
Montgomery Reef
Catch the outgoing tide to the famous Montgomery Reef and watch the water recede and the 600 square km of reef rise out of the water creating thousands of waterfalls. Walk the reef and see the myriad reef life including Dugongs, Turtles, and sharks while enjoying Sundowners on the observation deck while we cruise to Yampi Sound.
Doubtful Bay
Cruise through to Doubtful Bay and visit the spectacular Wandjina art gallery which is situated high on the cliffs at Raft Point. Barra and creek fish at 3 ways which is an extensive system filled with rockbars, snags and gutters. We encounter all sorts of fish here from Black Jew, Queenfiish, and GTS to Barra, Jacks and Salmon.
Ruby Falls
Visit the spectacular Ruby Falls for a swim and then take a walk up the head of the creek in search of rock art and lily lined billabongs., Fish the estuary system at Red Cone creek for Barra, Jacks, Fingermark, Salmon etc and explore a spring at the head of a creek and maybe also some secret rock art. Enjoy sundowners on the observation deck while we cruise to our next anchorage.
Day 5 – Horizontal Waterfalls
Visit the Horizontal Waterfalls. After breakfast it’s into the tenders to cruise through some of the most spectacular scenery on the coast and then an exciting ride through one of the natural wonders of the world the Horizontal Waterfalls. We bid you farewell as you board a seaplane for a scenic flight back to Derby arriving mid afternoon.

Some reef fishing is available at night depending on our anchorage and shark fishing is available every night all night where we anchor. We catch Bronze Whalers, Reef sharks and Hammerheads up to 12ft.
