GENERAL INFORMATION

All our Buccaneer Archipelago Charters now operate from Broome to Broome. We will arrange pick up from your accommodation transferring you to Derby by bus, or from Broome to Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm via a scenic flight by light aircraft to our vessel, or vice versa. This is a fantastic bonus as it reduces time sailing to or from the destination and gives another spectacular view of the Kimberley.

We offer 5, 7 and exclusive10 day tours combining fishing and exploring, and dive tours to the Rowley Shoals. Should you book the whole boat we will run the tour to your personal choice. However, we prefer to run with our published schedule for the convenience of all concerned.

If you prefer more fishing or more exploring we will try to place you with a like minded group etc.

We cater for specialist groups such as Very Keen Fishers, Bush walkers, Photographers, Bird Watchers, Educational groups, or people who just want to relax and let our crew take you on an adventure.

All you have to do to make a booking is inform us of your required tour or dates and fill in the attached booking form and either email it to unreel@wn.com.au or send by post to PO Box 116, Derby WA 6728. Bookings will only be confirmed upon Unreel Adventure Safaris receiving a deposit amounting to 20% of the total trip cost.  The balance must be paid no later than 90 days prior to the date of departure or your booking may be cancelled.

Fishing

We hold a Kimberley and Pilbara Fishing Tour Operators Licence, so guests do not require a" WA Fishing From Boat Licence". Our experienced local guides will endeavour to provide the fishing experience of your life. To maintain the quality of our fishing grounds for ourselves and future generations we have a policy of sustainable minimum extraction fishing.

In common with all the other fishing tour operators we know in the Kimberley, we only keep sufficient fish for consumption on board. So the majority of our catch is released. We have seen the results of the fill the freezer mentality down south, and are aware our patch is a fragile eco system not for rape and pillage.

We have a range of new and sturdy rods and reels, chosen to match our fishing techniques. However you are welcome to bring your own favourite stuff. Most of our tours will include a transfer by light plane so keep this to an absolute minimum. Big rod tubes just will not fit ! Trips to the Rowley Shoals begin and end at Broome Port so you can bring more gear for these.

What to bring

Baggage allowance of 10kg per person, preferably in soft bag for easy stowage. May we suggest that you bring the following items: personal toiletries and medications if required, light tropical style, quick dry clothing, bathers, a hat, sunglasses, a pair of walking shoes that you don't mind getting wet e.g. reef sandals, some warm clothing for the nights (long pants and long sleeve top), sunscreen, a camera, and some personal insect repellent.

King Tide has ample 240v power outlets, including access to laptops so you can enjoy and explore your creative talent.

Please keep your luggage to a minimum and pack it in a small soft tote bag.  You do not need to bring a lot and most people tend to over pack. If you choose to bring your own fishing gear keep it limited to just a rod, reel and lures. Feel free to bring a mask and snorkel, but visibility and safety in the Kimberly strong tide waters may limit the appeal .

We supply all fishing, crabbing and oyster gathering equipment, bait etc

If you are driving to Derby, we can put you in touch with a Derby local where you can securley park your car and/or caravan, for a nominal fee, oryou can just use the local caravan park.

Drinks

Until our liquor license is granted,  alcohol and soft drinks can be pre-ordered and we will have them on the boat chilled for you when you arrive. Please contact Cellarbrations (IGA) on 91911210 to order and pay by phone. If that is not possible we will also pre pay on your behalf and bill you. Please order well in advance if you are on a fly out tour as we must load your drinks with the tour booked before you.

Medical

Please let us know if you have any existing medical or physical condition. We recommend, to be able to participate in our cruises, that our travellers are in good health. We have HF Radio communications direct to maritime emergency providers and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).  We also have a satellite phone on board in case of emergencies.  Also carried on board the vessel is a fully comprehensive RFDS medical kit.

Our vessels are designed with ease of access for any person with limited mobility.

How to get here

Tour prices now include transfers from your accommodation in Broome to the vessel.

We highly recommend you to take out travel insurance before traveling.  For example:

We had a client embed a large treble hook in his arm, the barbs were not crushed and it could not be removed by the crew.  We took him to the paramedic on Cockatoo Island who also could not do anything.  He had to hire a light aircraft to fly him to Broome (accompanied by his wife), visit the hospital and find accommodation that night.

We organized a flight by seaplane the next morning (which does not come cheap) to meet the vessel. At 10am he was on board and back in action.

His $100 travel insurance policy covered the whole lot, a good investment!
